Even though Gareth Bale may have stated that he would like to stay at Tottenham next season, there have been several rumours that Real Madrid are interested in making him as their marquee signing this summer.

His agent Jonathan Barnett has confirmed that his client would welcome offers from a club like Real Madrid. This has increased speculation that Bale would leave Tottenham after the club failed to make it into the top four. As a result, they will not be playing in the Champions League group stages next season.

Recently, Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane commented that the Welsh winger could join the Spanish club in the summer or in the future because he is a player that they are really interested in signing. Barnett has said that it is a great honour for Bale to be linked with a club like Real Madrid. He has refused to close any doors by saying that Bale would listen to offers before deciding on his future. Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has spoken on several occasions about the need to keep Bale at the club in order to continue improving. Tottenham recently finished with their record points tally in the Premier league, but it was still not enough to finish in the top four.

"For somebody like Real Madrid to be interested in Bale, it’s a great honour. We would listen to them definitely – Bale has proved himself in the best league in the world. Bale is better than Neymar – he’s proved himself better already. I hope any club who wants him, would want him not because they lost out on Neymar, but because he’s their first choice. But whatever Neymar cost, Bale is worth more," said Barnett. Barcelona recently managed to sign Neymar for around £ 25 million, while Bale still has more than three years left on his contract.
